Now I know this may seem like a late late entry but I had to do it …
So Far Gone is one of the best mixtapes I have heard this year and possibly in a long while. Drake has won me over seriously though no homo! He was a dorky degrassi character to a local TO rapper opening for Ice Cube to a creative hit maker. Yes he opened for Ice Cube! This was way back in 07. I did heckle him a bit. Little did I know I was witnessing the growth of a star in the making. Since that show I saw him open for Mos Def and as you may know Mighty Mos is a legend regardless of sales. After that he release Comeback season which was also a great mixtape. That one featured TO classic such as City is mine, Do What U do, Replacement Girl, Think Good thoughts, and my persoanl favourite Going in for life. That mixtape showed potential for Drake to be able to be creative on a artistic level not just a “Hip Hop” one because his blends of R&B and hip hop. His latest release is So Far Gone which is be far one of the best collections of music I have heard in a while. The way this mixtape is different from the 1st one is that he uses music that isnt conventional by hip hop means. For example he samples Santogold on Unstopable, which is my summer banger! I know I know it seems like I am dick riding but seriously just listen to this and you may agree. 1st of all its FREE, 2nd it features everybodies favourtie rapper Lil’Wayne, 3rd he exhibites the potential to be a great artist not just rapper. I have to admit I really didnt give him credit but I am a beliver now and this just goes to show me that talent and hardwork can always win over the harshest critic. Just click the picture above to get a copy of the mixtape.
As of today I am planning on changing this blogs direction. Till today the blog had minimal content alot of it wasn’t my own. But what I am going to do now is to start making this a blog that features my work that I have created. From written, graphical, and any other form of expression, I will now focus on that. I may still feature a song I am feeling or a clip I like so don’t think I am going back to old ways.

Mr. Z of DJBooth.net had a chance to sit down and talk to the Dusty Foot Philosopher, K’Naan, who you should all familiarize yourselves with if you don’t know the name already. The interview won’t be posted on Friday, but until then, take in this freestyle.
A very important message! from jay!
